When last I made a legitimate post back in April 2012, I was already way behind in my storytelling. We'd completed our refit in Stuart, Florida, in July 2011 and sailed further north to Brunswick, Georgia. Left Brunswick in November 2011 and sailed to the Bahamas. Spent 3 months there, then sailed back to Florida in February, 2012. Put The Fox on the hard in Green Cove Springs, Florida, for what we believed would be 6 months while we spent some quality land-time in the American Southwest. For various reasons six months became nine months and we closed out 2012 with a red-eye flight from Arizona back to The Fox on jackstands in Green Cove Springs. Much has happened in the last year and a half and I have pictures to prove it all. Which I must save for later, because right now we're hustling to get The Fox seaworthy & splashed about 36 hours from now. Both GB and I are keen to get back on the water and away from land-based urban stressors, so we'll be off the grid yet again.

what happened? You have not posted for over almost a year? how was the trip to the Bahamas?
we are starting the "list to leave in 4.5 years." lots to do.
do you have hatch doors or do you use the slats?

Hey there, Kathi! The long absence from the blog was due to a combination of occasionally not having good enough connectivity; alternating with not having the time and/or being interrupted too frequently (like right now at this very moment, for instance) and/or not having the inspiration to post anything. Hopefully one or more of those factors will soon change! And your questions: (1) the Bahamas were nice enough but they don't compare to the Sea of Cortez; (2) we alternate our hatch doors between our original locking wooden one; a shiny stainless steel locking grate; and a clear-plastic-and-Sunbrella fabric flap.
More info later!
