The Fox was still having issues with charging its batteries via the alternator and regulator while its engine was running. The problem was intermittent and had dogged us for weeks. GB remained stoic and confident that the problem had a solution. After all, he's not just a college graduate but a grad school graduate, so he knows him some things. More importantly, he is a married man over age 50 so he appreciates the value of patience and persistence.
Lucky for GB the weather conditions and sea state at San Marcial were perfect for engine work: "land and sea breezes at the usual times," and little more.
On February 2, 2017, GB finally, really, truly, once and for all solved the recharging problem: it was a badly-deteriorated but still very-good-looking alternator belt. A simple replacement from The Fox's store of backup parts, and all was well again. Sometimes the solution is simple. Huzzah!
